National Coordinator of Latvia
My name is Roberts Stafeckis. I am the Latvian Coordinator for projects in the European Training and Education Network (ETEN). Most of my professional life I have spent either abroad or working with international projects or clients. This is why I truly believe that ERASMUS+ programme is an excellent tool for students and teachers in order to obtain international experience and learn other cultures and working environments
My career consists of several main periods. From 1992 till 2002 I worked at the Latvian Foreign Service and held different diplomatic positions in Riga, Copenhagen, Bonn and Berlin. After that for seven years I was Manager of Latvia office of the German – Baltic Chamber of Commerce, a part of the worldwide network of German Chambers abroad. From 2010 till 2015, I worked at the Ministry of Economics. At first, I served as a Commissioner General of Latvia at the Shanghai World Expo 2010. After the Shanghai project was finished, I was appointed as a Commissioner General of Latvia at the Milan World Expo 2015. I speak Latvian, English, German and Russian, and hold a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree (LL.M) in International Law & Finance. My main hobby is croquet. I am not only an active player, but also President of the Latvian Croquet Federation (www.krokets.lv), and member of the Management Committee of the World Croquet Federation (www.worldcroquet.org.uk).
